The Untold Story of Dr. Nina Simone
After his mother gives him three 2” audio tape reels labeled “Nina Simone 1978” that had been in the basement of his home for 28 years, filmmaker Kris Schackman decides to look at his father Al Schackman and his decision to leave his family in 1983. In his quest to understand his father, the life choices he made and his career as a jazz musician, Kris realizes, that he must look at his 50 year career with his godmother, the legendary Nina Simone.
